Group Management Services (GMS) is seeking to hire a full time Safety Specialist for the Richfield, OH office.

Summary:          

Work with Health and Safety Manager to coordinate the implementation of key safety programs through direct interaction with clients’ managers and business owners. 

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
 
  • Monitor safety and risk management software, programs, vendors, and overall insurability of existing and prospective clients.
  • Provide and conduct safety trainings for clients.
  • Perform onsite safety inspections, determine probable causes, work with Safety Manager to make recommendations for corrective action and follow up with clients to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Use knowledge to wear  corrective Personal Protective Equipment at all times and is responsible for having availability to personal protective equipment at all times
  • Communicate any red flags to Manager and Risk Department.
  • Conduct Safety Walk through and Safety Assessment.
  • Conduct post accident investigations and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by clients senior management.
  • Assist clients and GMS Account Managers with creating safety programs and be a resource for questions as they relate to safety. Provide guidance with SOP’s and safety program.
  • Adhere to federal regulation in regards to decisions on safety and use of controls
  • Follows GMS standards of SOP.
  • Support Risk Department with information regarding clients’ lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims so GMS can better manage all claims.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
 
 
  • Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree preferably in related field with at least two (2) years of related safety experience, preferred.
  • Language Skills - Ability to verbally communicate complex technical information in a conversational style.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, worked processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Other Qualifications - Valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to travel up to 75%of the time; some overnight stays may be necessary.
    • AED/CPR-American Heart Association Certification preferred but not required
    • Certification as an OSHA  Authorized Trainer preferred but not required
