Group Management Services (GMS) is seeking to hire a full time Workers' Compensation Claims Manager position in the Richfield, OH office.   


SUMMARY: This entry level position will examine, adjust, and manage claims for client company’s workers compensation benefits. 

 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review employee injury reports to determine compensability.
  • Examine workers' compensation claim forms.
  • Advise employers on the proper management and impact of workers' compensation claims. Explain operation of alternate "light work" programs.
  • Consult with medical staff (Managed Care Organization) and legal counsel regarding claims activity.
  • Maintain data bases for workers' compensation files.  Summarize reports as required for annual statistics.
  • Assist GMS attorneys as required in handling litigated claims and follow up on subrogation claims.
  • Prepare weekly hearing docket file for attorneys that represent GMS.
  • Schedule Independent Medical Examinations (IME) and prepare IME letters.
  • Facilitate surveillance services for GMS clients through vendors.
  • Follow up with clients as directed and provide recommendations regarding status of WC Claims.
  • Prepare Handicap Reimbursement Letters and represent employer on phone hearings.
  • Maintain database and spreadsheet regarding all hearing results.
  • Maintain a claim diary for all active claims either on a bi-weekly or monthly update.
  • Notify GMS Account Managers of possible HR issues that may arise from a worker’s compensation claim.
  • Provide correspondence on outcomes of BWC orders and/or in Industrial Commission orders to clients.
  • Closely monitor claims medical, indemnity, and reserve costs to address claim maximum values.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education- a 4 year College Degree
  • Experience- 1-2 years experience a plus, but not necessary
  • Strong communication and mathematical skills
  • Must be proficient in Excel
