Once Upon A Child is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our Canton location

The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) will be able to run the store in the absence of the Store Manager.  The ASM will assist in managing and promoting all aspects of the business: buying, selling, pricing, merchandising, training, and managing the store staff.  In addition, the ASM will promote a high level of customer service, be a problem solver and continually strive for innovative solutions for bettering the business.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Must have strong leadership, organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Must have 2+ years customer service experience
  • Must have prior supervisory experience
  • High school diploma (some college preferred)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and the Internet 
  • Ability to life up to 40 lbs. without assistance
The Assistant Store Manager will :
  • Understand, meet and exceed sales goals as determined by The Minney Group.
  • Maintain all controllable expenses within established budgetary guidelines, including store supplies.
  • Recruit and assist in training new hires for all areas of the store.  Set productivity/performance standards and evaluate staff performance.
  • Engage the staff on a daily basis and assisting in running periodic team meetings.
  • Determine and post the day plan to let staff members know what is expected of them during their shift.
  • Monitor the volume of business to know when to call staff in and/or send staff home.
  • Assist in training for the Buyer Certification Program.
  • Encourage each individual staff member to contribute their best effort.
  • Train staff on all TMG Non-Negotiable Customer Service Standards.  Insure that all standards are met and adhered to.
  • Maintain appropriate security procedures including: computer cash register open/close procedures, daily bank deposit, daily audit reconciliation (both register, reviewing daily buy summary).
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly bookkeeping tasks.
  • Assist the Inventory Manager in executing TMG clearance strategy, daily floor and merchandise maintenance, and assist in inventory counts as needed.
  • Maintain and provide a store that is appealing to family shoppers by creating an environment that is vibrant, organized, clean, and maintained to TMG operational standards.
  • Maintain/monitor security equipment, and other loss prevention programs implemented by TMG.  Know how to use the security cameras in case you would need to review them.  Be familiar with the security system, able to turn off and on and trouble shoot any problems.
  • Must be available for problem solving even if not at work.
  • All other duties as assigned

This is a full time position. Must be available nights and weekends. Must be available to work a minimum of four weekend days a month and at least 1 night per week.
