Supply Chain/Purchasing Manager

Job Overview:

To develop, coordinate, and monitor purchasing standards / procedures in place at the company. To be responsible for the coordination of all activities in the Purchasing department and to conduct tasks such as employee coaching / discipline, enforcement of company policies / standards, and other tasks associated with a supervision role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish procurement plans and make decisions necessary to purchase products and services in comparison with organizational objectives and sourcing strategies.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls activities related to the purchasing function.
  • Implement and maintain a database of specifications, suppliers, products and/or services.
  • Plan purchasing, sourcing and supply strategies based on forecasted data.
  • Purchase supplies utilizing proven negotiating skills in obtaining best pricing possible.
  • Ensure on-time delivery.
  • Inventory and allocation control.
  • Determine vendor selection.
  • Initiate innovative strategies to boost bottom-line business.
  • Guides purchasing actions by developing and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Answer any CAR’s issued to the department.
  • Responsible for performance management of their employees (performance appraisals, discipline, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Management.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess excellent negotiating skills.
  • Must be proficient with computers.
  • Must be knowledgeable of several computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a high attention to detail.
  • Team oriented attitude.
  • Must be able to organize, assign, instruct and direct the work of others.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years experience procurement / purchasing role with inventory control experience.
  • 2+ years experience in a supervisory role required.
  • ISO 9001 & 14001 Awareness Training.
  • Emergency Response Plan Training.
  • PWI requirements fulfilled.
