Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Full time position maintaining, inspecting and servicing: roll off trucks, compactors, dozers, excavators, loaders and grinders.This position is suited for an individual interested in maintaining a variety of equipment and managing a shop. A strong work ethic and drive to keep equipment operating at its full potential is necessary.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm and Saturday 8 am - Noon.
Compensation: $19.00 -$25.00 per hour based on experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop/maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment
  • Document detailed and accurate records of all work performed and parts in stock or used.
  • Inspect roll off trucks daily.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, & safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Work closely with management to strategize how to improve performance and expected life of equipment.
  • Purchase parts & supplies – developing long-lasting, professional relationships with vendors to ensure quality service and pricing is required. A Purchase Order is required to be filled out and signed prior to purchases made.
  • Repair of hydraulics, electrical, suspension, brake and air systems.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Ability to meet all physical requirements (Example: heavy lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, etc.)
  • 2 years of experience and related schooling required (Years of service and knowledge of equipment will be taken into consideration).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
  • Welding experience.
  • CDL license.
  • A willingness to attend additional related training would be beneficial.
  • Provide personal tools.
  • May include exposure to outdoor weather
  • May require travel for road-side assistance
  • Weekly meeting with management (Tuesdays 9:00am)
