The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on cultivation and processing facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. This includes greenhouse and indoor grow systems, irrigation, HVAC, lighting, and specialized extraction equipment. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems function properly to support production schedules, regulatory compliance, and product quality. The Maintenance Technician works under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to complete assigned work orders, perform routine inspections, and support the safe, efficient operation of all facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, irrigation, fertigation, lighting, and environmental control systems.
  • Respond to work orders and equipment breakdowns, troubleshooting and repairing issues to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect equipment and systems regularly to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe and functional condition.
  • Facility Operations Support
  • Assist with maintenance of cultivation rooms, greenhouses, processing labs, and facility infrastructure.
  • Perform basic construction, repair, and modification tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, hazardous material handling, and safety protocols during all maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate logs of work performed, inspections completed, and parts used.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and state cannabis regulations.
  • Use proper PPE when working in labs, greenhouses, or around solvents and agricultural chemicals.
  • Execute work orders assigned through the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Work closely with cultivation, extraction, and processing teams to minimize disruption during maintenance tasks.
  • Report recurring equipment issues or system deficiencies to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in facility, industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotation.

Preferred:

  • Cannabis industry experience (cultivation, greenhouse, or extraction facilities).
  • Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, welding, plumbing).
  • Experience with CMMS or other work order tracking systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in high-heat, high-humidity environments.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, in confined spaces, and around loud equipment.
  • Able to wear PPE and follow strict safety protocols in labs and cultivation facilities.
