Key Responsibilities:

The BHO Extraction & Refinement Manager is responsible for the complete hydrocarbon extraction and post-processing workflow — from biomass to final concentrate — in a licensed C1D1 laboratory. This role is both hands-on and managerial, leading a crew of 3–4 extraction technicians in producing high-quality cannabis concentrates with a focus on distillate, Cured and live resin as primary product lines. The manager ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operations while meeting production targets, optimizing yields, and developing new product formulations in collaboration with company leadership

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain closed-loop hydrocarbon extraction systems (e.g., Precision, ETS, Luna, or comparable).
  • Oversee all post-processing, including winterization, filtration, decarboxylation, vacuum oven purging, distillation, and terpene separation.
  • Optimize process parameters for different cultivars to maximize yield, cannabinoid potency, and terpene retention.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot C1D1 safety systems, ventilation, and gas detection equipment.
  • Oversee calibration, cleaning, and preventive maintenance for all lab equipment, including vacuum pumps, ovens, and rotary evaporators.
  • Collaborate with cultivation to adjust parameters for strain-specific optimization.
  • Assist in R&D with new textures and formulations in partnership with company directors.
  • Maintain detailed batch records, including biomass weight, solvent volumes, process parameters, yields, and lab notes.
  • Ensure all products meet internal QC standards and pass third-party COA testing (potency, terpenes, residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, microbials).
  • Implement corrective actions for deviations.
  • Ensure compliance with Florida cannabis regulations, BioTrack tracking requirements, GMP, OSHA, NFPA 58, and local fire codes.
  • Lead a team of 3–4 extraction/refinement technicians in a boots-on-the-ground, player-coach style.
  • Schedule and prioritize daily lab tasks to meet production quotas and efficiency goals.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and participate in hiring/firing decisions in coordination with directors.
  • Foster a safety-first, quality-driven culture through continuous training and SOP adherence.
  • Achieve established throughput and yield targets (e.g., lbs processed/day, liters of distillate/week).
  • Track and improve solvent recovery %, yield per pound, and labor hours per batch.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs without compromising safety or quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years direct experience in hydrocarbon cannabis extraction, including distillate production.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role managing extraction/refinement staff.
  • Proficiency in winterization, distillation, terpene stripping, and advanced hydrocarbon extraction techniques.
  • Experience in C1D1/C1D2 hazardous lab environments.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, solvent behavior, and phase separation.
  • Familiarity with Florida cannabis compliance laws and BioTrack.
  • Knowledge of GMP and OSHA standards.
  • Experience with additional extraction technologies (CO₂, ethanol, solventless) preferred.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary: $80,000-$90,000/yr- offer based on experience.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Employee discounts on company products.
