Description

We are a textiles company seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our growing team in Richmond, Indiana! As the Purchasing Manager you’ll be responsible for managing all purchasing activities for products from development to phase out. This role reports to the Director of Sourcing and oversees one part-time buyer. The Purchasing Manager plays a key role in reliability, quality, product cost, inventory and asset management.

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Buyer’s daily duties which includes the full cycle purchase order process- receiving orders, accounting, and procure-to-pay process
  • Review invoices/purchase orders, work with internal accounting/finance to identify and resolving any purchasing issues
  • Set inventory purchasing levels and provide timely forecasts to suppliers
  • Deliver a weekly purchase order report to finance that indicates the vendor invoice number for all closed purchase orders
  • Assist the Inventory Manager with maintaining proper inventory levels of materials used on a regular basis
  • Possess and demonstrate a passion for continuous improvement to drive efficiencies with the supply base and assuring that risks are properly mitigated
  • Track and provide regular reports on all aspects of the purchasing function to include inventory, supplier on time delivery, quality issues and shortages with recommendations for corrective action or improvement
  • Maintain complete ownership of material purchased throughout the manufacturing process
  • Utilize and drive enhancements to ERP systems to improve control and efficiency

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 3-5 years prior experience in purchasing, operations, supply chain, and quality departments
  • Experience using inventory management systems, order processing/fulfillment systems, forecasting, and material planning
  • Experience with international shipping requirements and process strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks with changing levels of priority due to customer and field service demands
  • Ability to interpret data, use independent judgment, and good analytical ability to handle varied situations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including statistical analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of operations/manufacturing systems, including S&OP/MRP concepts
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Particularly Excel
  • Multinational exposure preferred
  • Experience in SQL preferred
