Hemm’s Glass is currently seeking a full-time Drafter to join their team in Piqua, Ohio. R.C. Hemm began Hemm’s Glass Shops, Inc. in July 1948 at our present Piqua, Ohio location, and we have continued to grow as a result of our loyal customers and dedicated employees. The Drafter ensures all technical and quality requirements on all project plans and designs are executed in an accurate and timely manner to satisfy all stakeholder expectations.

  • Pay: $20 – $25/hour, offer dependent on experience

The right candidate will have:

  • Must have 3 years of experience within the drafting/engineering industry in a similar position and/or experience as a project engineer or architect.
  • Bachelors in engineering
  • Ability to read technical manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday
  • No weekends
  • 8AM–5PM

Drafter Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with project managers and vendors, during all project phases, as directed by the president to understand requirements and communicate resolutions to ensure project accuracy and final project sign-off
  • Implements quality processes as directed by the project manager to deliver a project to meet or exceed our customer expectations resulting in long term relationships beneficial to the customer and Hemm’s
  • Executes the project plan as determined by the project manager and participates with the drafting team to deliver projects within scope and schedule.
  • Enters job-specific information into Partner Pak or Glazier Studio and export into Rhino saw.
  • Coordinates or performs field investigations following company guidelines, as required.
  • Performs detail design and checks for code compliance and adherence to customer objectives.
  • Identifies specific site requirements, identifies established foundation system, framing system, floor and roof loading requirements, lateral load requirements (wind, seismic), material handling requirements, future expansion requirements, code requirements.
  • Executes conceptual design consistent with project criteria as directed by the President or Project Managers.
